Buon Natale!

Just a little donkey,
but on my back I bore
The one and only Savior
the world was waiting for.
Just a little donkey,
but I was strong and proud-
I gladly carried Mary
through the chaos of the crowd.
I brought her to a stable
where she made a tiny bed…
A place for Baby Jesus
to lay His little head.
I pray the world remembers
that special Christmas night
when just a little donkey
carried Heaven’s Precious Light.

In Italy, festivities commence December 17 and end on Three Kings Day, January 6.  Although Befana may leave few small gifts on Christmas, the real present exchange takes place on January 6. Christmas is spent attending church and feasting with family.  I adore singing along to the silly donkey song.  "Jing-a-Jingg-Jing, heehaw, heehaw!" Which reminds me of a wonderful holiday movie...the flip side to my Year Without a Santa Claus DVD is,  Nestor the long-eared donkey.

Tonight, Let's whip up a batch of 'sketti' while listening to Dominic and settle in to watch Nestor.
